2020 All-State DHS Vocal Jazz Ensemble
The DHS Vocal Jazz Ensemble was chosen as the premier vocal jazz choir in the state of Illinois. Included with this honor, the group traveled to the annual ILMEA Music Educator’s Conference in Peoria, IL to perform for over 10,000 teachers in attendance this January.
Only in their fourth year in existence, the Danville Vocal Jazz Ensemble has lost no time making waves in their community and across the state. What began as a dedicated group of 14 students in 2017 has grown to a choir of 35 in just a few short years.
Students enjoy learning a variety of jazz styles including improvisational scat, swing, contemporary, blues, crooning, and big-band. They take pride in performing throughout their community and are the featured entertainment for the annual District #118 retirement ceremony.
They are directed by Mr. Jeff Thomas and accompanied by Mrs. Jill Smith.
